1984 U.S. junior men's champion
Billy Lawe died of AIDS-related complications in March, 1995 at the age of 33. He was survived for four years by life partner Robert Wagenhoffer.
One of their joint projects in their six years together was a company, Ice Pirates, which marketed a skating-themed calendar to benefit AIDS organizations. Lawe spent the early 1990s traveling the world with Wagenhoffer.
