Hi there Mark, I have had you web page on my favorites list for some time- actually it was a search on pi last year. Why Pi? I am not a mathematician by any means in fact my background was clothing construction for 25 years then in the interior design business, it was this that got me to invent a fastener several years ago, basically an internal cylindrical screw type. What does this have to do with you? The shape of the fastener is a curved hexagon, that at the time I (when I had nothing else to do) I would cut out the shape and start to piece them together, with my years of clothing construction I was very good at creating interesting forms, one in particular caught my interest. three years later I had a brainstorm as to how I could simplify this kind of construction, by using a modified circle. Last year I filed for US patents on the method of construction, I call it a 'Xxxxxxxxxxx'. That interesting shape that got my attention happened to be a double sided pyramid that can be formed using four of the circles- furthermore the size of the square it it,s mid-point has an interesting relationship to the size of the circle used, and is the same no matter what size circle. I sent a sample of this form together with accompanying compass diagrams of this to nine well heeled University mathematic professors around the east coast. and have had no response. I feel it is kind of weird because in the three plus years since I have had this construction I have yet to see any duplication or reference to this particular formation of an octahedron. I would very much like to send you the same samples so you can take a look, and if possible give me your opinion. If you are willing to take a look please forward a Po box or address so I can ship it out to you. Thanks for your time Xxxxx Xxxxx. Ps you can go to xxxxxxxxxxx.com to get a picture of some examples of construction.
