Meanwhile, here is a list of the remaining corrections. I thought it might be best if I included explanations, so that if the compositors have questions you can help them understand what I want. p. 3 The last "n" in the factorial of n is n! should be italic. In PP3, there was not enough space between this "n" and the following "!". I wrote "italic correction" on the proof because TeX has a feature called "italic correction" that will properly adjust the spacing after an italicized character, and it was clear that this feature had not been invoked here. But the compositors instead put the "n" in roman font. I want it in italics, *and* I want the spacing adjusted. The other places in the proofs where I wrote "italic correction" were properly corrected. p. 33, 37 As you noted, the alignment of the table entries is still not quite right. On page 33, column 4 is misaligned. On page 37, the 2 in the third column of the fifth row is too far to the right. p. 85 The quotation marks in "x\,,y" and "x,\,y" should be neutral single apostrophes in monospaced font, so: 'x\,,y' and 'x,\,y' p. 126 The illustration has two sets of captions. Doesn't this look strange to you? Shouldn't one set of captions be removed? One set of captions is embedded in the illustration itself, and one set is part of the figure number label. I first brought this to your attention on 23 November. Please email me about this so we can discuss what should be done about it. p. 153 The word 'seed' in the last paragraph should be in a *proportional-spaced* italic font, not a monospaced font. p. 158 The label imap($f,$it) in the illustration should be imap($f, $it) p. 210 The line } elsif ($target > $first && @rest) { should be moved left one space. This is my fault. I wrote on PP3 that a later line should be moved right instead; the compositors correctly disregarded that instruction. p. 230 The compositors changed the positions of the two lines as I wanted, but they also moved the label "B:", which I did *not* want. The "B:" should be on the line above. p. 231 The labels "C:" and "A:" in the left column of the display should be in roman font. p. 311 The table rows have been mathematically typeset as I requested, except for row 0. Putting the "P" into italics should suffice. p. 362 The expression "---\n" looks a little peculiar to me. It looks as though there might be extra space between the --- and the \n. Is it just my imagination? If not, can we get it closed up just a little? p. 427 There is a missing space in sub { $VAR{$_[0]} = $_[2]}), ; it should read sub { $VAR{$_[0]} = $_[2] }), p. 450 The phrase represents the string 'O'Reilly', not 'O\'Reilly'. should say represents the string O'Reilly, not O\'Reilly. with no change in fonts. This is my fault. p. 501 Insert spaces around curly braces so that {"y" => 1, "" => 0} becomes { "y" => 1, "" => 0 } p. 530 The quotation marks in the phrase ... with label "": are too far apart; they should not have any extra space in between. I marked many of these corrections on PP3; this is the only one I noticed that had not been corrected. p. 541 This last one is very annoying. In PP3, the phrases "A, then B" and "A or B" had too much space between the 'B' and the quotation mark. I pointed this out in PP3, with notes that said "Correct spacing". The compositors added *more* space.
